Video: Bonefish, Tarpon in Punta Pajaros

Opportunities for permit, bonefish and tarpon are plentiful near the island of Punta Pajaros, Mexico.

Punta Pajaros is located south of Cancun and Cozumel, between world-famous Ascension and Espiritu Santo bays. This Mexican estuary is off the grid, away from the loud music and bright lights of the party districts. Here, anglers can hook into tarpon, bonefish and permit, sometimes just a few feet from the boat. Making the right--or even the wrong cast--can lead to an unforgettable fight. Below, anglers traveled to fish the backwaters and flats for Mexico's top inshore species:
