G. Loomis CrossCurrent 11-weight Pro 1

Whether you’re targeting mahi, big snook or all but the largest tarpon, this rod will get the job done.
Mar 23, 2009

There's something to be said for one-piece fly rods. Because they have no ferrules, these rods are typically lighter and more sensitive than their four-piece counterparts. No, they may not be ideal for travel, but for local use — and especially for big game — there's a mighty fine argument for keeping one or two in the arsenal.

Premier rod manufacturer G. Loomis expanded its one-piece lineup in its popular CrossCurrent series this year with a new 11-weight Pro 1 model. Simply put, it's a beefy stick perfect for taking on beefy fish. At 8 feet, 10 inches, it's designed with a blended graphite blank and lightweight, durable REC Recoil stipper and snake guides to put the hurt to the toughest species.

Whether you're targeting mahi, big snook or all but the largest tarpon, this rod will get the job done. MSRP is $480. www.gloomis.com
