In 2011, Orvis aimed to introduce 10,000 people to the sport of fly-fishing. The company achieved its goal, which created another — to provide fly-fishing newbies quality products at entry-level prices. The new Clearwater rod is a prime example. Orvis took the rod-action technology from the popular Helios series and applied it to the Clearwater sticks. Such attention to exacting tapers yielded rods that cast with precision — exactly what the designers were hoping for. These rods are available in a variety of sizes and configurations and feature an eye-catching emerald-green blank with a smoke-colored aluminum reel seat accented by an emerald-green woven composite insert.
