Waterworks-Lamson Vanquish Reel

Offered in five models for 8- to 12-weight lines

The Waterworks-Lamson company is offering a new fly reel that it says delivers twice the torque of its former saltwater design.

The Vanquish reel uses a conical drag system that generates no stick-slip - even under the most rigorous conditions produced by the sea's toughest characters. Offered in five models for 8- to 12-weight lines, the reels are made with an extremely stiff frame, and the 10- and 12-weight models can be purchased with a lighter, open-spoke spool if desired. Other features include an integrated foot and frame (which Lamson says is stronger than a traditional, fastened reel foot), a tandem roller clutch for higher torque, fully sealed drag components, and a large self-lubricating and nonslip handle.

MSRP ranges from $799 to $899 (extra spools range from $359 to $399). www.waterworks-lamson.com
