Hewes calls its new Redfisher 21 "the largest, most fully featured backcountry boat ever made." While other manufacturers might debate that statement, the Redfisher certainly delivers on its promise of lots of space and plenty of features.
Whatever it is you need to store - rods, gear or people - the Redfisher 21 will accommodate it. Large fore and aft casting decks provide plenty of room for two fly fishermen to work at once. Under-gunwale, lockable rod boxes with tip protectors secure your fly rods, and a huge forward dry-storage compartment holds gear bags and cameras. And if that's not enough storage, you'll find two more dry storage compartments (that live-bait fishermen could optionally convert to livewells) in the stern deck.
Rigged standard with a 225-hp Yamaha outboard and hydraulic jack plate, the Redfisher 21 has a top speed of 75 mph and will run in 11 inches of water. With 48 gallons of fuel, the boat has plenty of range for extended runs deep into the backcountry. At 1,200 pounds, the boat is light for its size, thanks to the company's high-tech hulls built using Klegecell foam/glass (no wood) construction. While not quite as nimble as the company's Bonefisher line, the 21 will still pole well under most conditions. Bow- or stern-mounted trolling motors are available as an option, with inner laminate aluminum plates for secure installation.
The boat's standard equipment list is lengthy and includes recessed Lenco trim tabs, Teleflex hydraulic steering, center console with locking door, two livewells (40 gallons aft, 20 gallons forward) and flush deck hardware throughout.
