Peak PRV-2 Fly-tying Vise

High-end quality at an affordable price.

Fly-tying vises, if built correctly, last a lifetime, and the attention to detail and the machining that go into making something that works and lasts that long also make them cost more. So what do you tie on until you can save up enough money to buy a high-end model? Peak offers a new vise that you may not even want to trade up from.

The PRV-2 features a steel collar, a height- and length-adjustable bobbin rest, a quick-change jaw and an infinitely adjustable friction knob. The riser, cam and jaws are all machined from stainless steel, and they create the rotary turret from solid brass. It uses a Delrin friction bushing to provide any range of rotation from free-spinning to a locked position in any orientation. The standard adjustment screws are made from Delrin, but brass upgrades are available.

The standard hardened jaws can hold hooks from No. 2 down to No. 24, and the positive-stop cam action allows repeatable gripping from the first fly to the last. Larger saltwater jaws for hooks up to 4/0 can be purchased separately. The vise comes with your choice of a 6- by-6-inch powder-coated pedestal or C-clamp base, standard jaw set and bobbin rest assembly. It retails for $129.95.
